Sumario:This work aimed to characterize the coastal dynamics of the beaches of Mar Azul and Mar de las Pampas (Argentina) through the participation of activist dwellers. Moreover, the commitment and predisposition of the participants were evaluated to continue with this type of project.  They were taught theoretical and practically about the dynamics of the coast (taking beach profiles and oceanographic measurements). They selected the monitoring areas and made monthly measurements for three years. They generated a database that allowed them to characterize the study areas in terms of loss or sediment gain. We worked with the participant observation and the realization of interviews with key informants before and after the surveys. We obtained that the two beaches to the south tended to erosion and those from the north to sediment gain. Despite having passed seven years after the project, the participants expressed their desire to continue monitoring coastal zones in their cities. The active participation of activists complements the work of scientific research and legitimizes their results.
