These parallels are evident not only in the essays Chejfec has written on Sebald's work but also in the essayistic turn in his later narrative style—an approach that fosters a dialogue with the generic instability characteristic of Sebald’s writings. Chejfec’s interest in Sebald’s work can be explained by a shared focus on various representations of ruin and destruction, which permeate the spaces depicted by both authors. We argue that this inclination has a common theoretical substratum: Benjamin’s philosophy of history. El presente trabajo tiene como propósito inicial retomar el consenso crítico que traza vínculos entre la poética de Sergio Chejfec y la del escritor alemán W.G. Sebald. Esta relación se pone de manifiesto no solo en los ensayos que Chejfec le ha dedicado a la obra de Sebald, sino, también, en cierto giro ensayístico que se registra en su obra narrativa tardía, movimiento que admite una puesta en diálogo con la inestabilidad genérica de los escritos de Sebald. El interés de Chejfec por la obra de Sebald también se explica por una inclinación compartida hacia las distintas figuraciones de la ruina y la destrucción que se hacen visibles en los espacios referidos por ambos escritores. A nuestro modo de ver, dicha inclinación tiene un sustrato teórico común: la filosofía de la historia benjaminiana. Universidad Nacional del Nordeste. Facultad de Humandiades.
