It aims to mobilize Latin America towards the change that globalization presumes, however, two of the most challenging things are the problem identification and the multiplicity of function made in the educational management. Therefore, to face this condition it is necessary to improve these processes, executing allied and effective actions that develop strategies that would later come to strengthen and optimize the educational work. The conclusions reveal that educational research and reflection result in proposals for solutions to situations that limit the progress of education and allows to develop and apply skills in knowledge management, in pursuit of the transformation of educational institutions. Este ensayo tiene por objetivo reflexionar en torno a la implementación de la investigación dentro del sistema educativo como herramienta de trabajo para contribuir a mejorar la condición en que se encuentran los centros escolares. Aspira movilizar a América Latina hacia el cambio que presunta la globalización, no obstante, dos de los principales retos son la identificación de problemas y la multiplicidad de funciones que se realiza en la gestión de la educación. Por tanto, para hacer frente a esta condición es necesario mejorar estos procesos, ejecutando acciones aliadas y efectivas que desarrollen estrategias que posteriormente, vendrían a fortalecer y optimizar la labor educativa. Las conclusiones revelan que la investigación genera conocimiento por lo que, sirve de base para formular propuestas de solución ante las circunstancias que limitan el progreso de la educación y, permite desarrollar y aplicar habilidades en la gestión del conocimiento en procura de la transformación del centro escolar.
