Sumario:The Geoparks integrate the geodiversity, biodiversity, territorial heritage and community constituting territorialstrategies aimed at counteracting the effects of extractivism through participatory geoconservation frameworks. This article aims to analyze the theoretical foundations of geotourism, geological heritage, and geoconservation in their articulationwith planning and management processes of geoparks in Latin America, particularly in Kütralkura UGG (Chile), Araripe UGG(Brazil), and Grutas del Palacio UGG(Uruguay). Themethodologyisbasedonqualitative and comparative techniques, grounded in documentary and regulatory analysis. The results reveal discursive convergences, operational tensions, andinstitutional voids that affect their consolidation. From a critical perspective of sustainable development, it is argued that geoparks should be understood as participatory territorial governance devices, as they promote a balanced interaction between nature, culture, and community. Their potential lies in redefining the relationships between conservation, education, land use and social appropriation of the territory.
