Sumario:In this article, the dimension of health is considered as one of the crucial elements to investigate in labour relations. The case of study is a clothing factory in Buenos Aires. Through the analysis of health-illness experiences we gain access to daily life dynamics within the workplace that go beyond health issues – but that otherwise remain obscure- and that refer to the working conditions and the organization of the productive process. From a gender perspective, the findings regarding health are put into dialogue with those relating to sex-gender segregation, showing how health in work environments is affected by gender constructions. Methodologically, the investigation combines the use of statistical data on the clothing industry at a national level with ethnographic data from fieldwork in this particular factory.
