Sumario: | The development of the female gametophyte in Ceiba insignis (Kunth) Gibbs & Semir has been investigated. A normal linear tetrad of megaspores is formed of which the lowermost one is functional and produces a seven-celled embryo-sac of Polygonum type. The antipodals are ephemeral. The filiform apparatus of the synergids is very conspicuous. An hypostase with callosic walls is present in the chalazal tissue. |
