Establishment and characterization of a new metastatic cell line (M3MC) derived from a murine mammary tumor

Sumario:The murine tumor cell line M3MC was derived from a spontaneous BALB/c mammary adenocarcinoma and maintained in culture for over 100 passages. Cultures were composed by very different cell sizes that would correspond to distinct subpopulations. Chromosome analysis revealed the existence of hypotetraploid and hypooctoploid cells. M3MC cells were fully tumorigenic and metastatic in syngeneic mice. Different histological patterns were observed in tumors generated by early and late M3MC cell culture passages.
