Sumario:The relationships between soils and landscape were studied in a sector of the Sierras Australes (Provincia de Buenos Aires). Six main geomorphological units were recognized, each one of which exhibits a particular association of soils. As a general rule, pedogenetic processes have predominated over morphogenesis. Such a situation is the result of, among other things, the stability of the landscape, the existence of ambient conditions favouring plant colonization, the absence of extreme slopes, and the nature of the ground itself. The degree of soil development increases with distance from the hills, resulting in a general sequence, entisol-hapludol-argiudol.
