Sumario: | Hyperphyscia coronata Scutari, H. pseudocoralloides Scutari and H. cochlearis Scutari are described as new species. The first taxon is unique within the genus by exhibiting apothecia with a crown of cilia and the thallus underside with well developed rhizinae. The second taxon resembles H. coralloides (Lynge) Scutari, but differs by the 1-septate spores. Except far the presence of soralia, Hyperphyscia cochlearis resembles H. tuckermanii (Lynge) Moberg. Likewise, H. cochlearis is quite similar in appearance to H. variabilis Scutari, a sorediate species with 3-septate spores. The thalli of H. pseudocoralloides and H. coralloides are comparatively analyzed. The occurrence of species with similar habit but different spore-types is discussed. H. adglutinata (Flörke) Mayrhofer & Poelt is also revised, and it appears to be a homogeneous, cosmopolitan species.
