Sumario:A relatively simple model for the implosion of a strong shock driven by a spherical shell which is ablatively imploded by a laser pulse is presented. The dynamics of the shock and the shell is completely described by three dimensionless parameters containing all the information regarding the laser and the target. The model is applied to recent experiments which produce the highest neutron yield, and a good agreement with simulations and experimental results is found. © 1992 American Institute of Physics.
