A synthesis of 11, 19-oxidopregn-4-ene-3, 20-dione and 6, 19-oxidopregn-4-ene-3, 11, 20-trione is described starting from pregn-4-ene-3, 11, 20-trione and via the common intermediate 3β, 20β-diacetyloxy-5α-bromo-6, 19-oxidopregnan-11-one, in 30 and 32% yield, respectively. © 1990, Walter de Gruyter....
