The retrograde amnesia affected RP's autobiographical memory as well as his memory for famous people, well known events and semantics. He showed no structural brain lesion on the MRI, but a SPECT study showed right frontal, parietal and thalamic perfusion deficit. While RP could partially relearn some of the lost memories, 1 year after the accident he still showed a dense retrograde amnesia.
