It is possible to assume that Gazeta de Buenos Ayres is one of the most important testimonial documents from this period of history of Argentina. When an investigator venture into their pages finds that the record of the substantial initial legacy is intertwined with the search of the revolutionary of cultural significance. Thus, this document can be covered as a sign of a synthesis between the Library, understood symbolically as the cultural center of a new era, marked by the emancipation of the people, and the librarianship tasks assumed to erect and maintain an establishment of such features. El presente trabajo repasará el primer año de publicación de la Gazeta de Buenos Ayres con el fin de estudiar en sus páginas los orígenes de la Biblioteca Pública desde las donaciones populares realizadas a dicha institución, impulsadas por Mariano Moreno en su doble papel de fundador de la Gazeta y Protector de la Biblioteca. Es posible asumir que, al oficiar de Boletín de la Primera Junta, la Gazeta de Buenos Ayres es uno de los documentos testimoniales más importantes de esta época tan relevante para la historia argentina. Al incursionar en sus páginas, el investigador se encuentra con que el registro del cuantioso legado inicial se entrelaza –está será la hipótesis que asumiremos– con una búsqueda de trascendencia cultural que ha quedado grabada en estos asientos. De esta manera, este documento puede recorrerse como el indicio de una síntesis entre la Biblioteca entendida simbólicamente como el foco cultural de una nueva época, signada por la emancipación de un pueblo, y las tareas bibliotecológicas asumidas para erigir y sostener un establecimiento con tales características.
