Sumario:Among the activities carried out by the Nutrition Service at the National Hospital of Clinics for the target audience, various recommendations on dietary practices are shared; for example, in this case we are discussing the use of sweeteners. In May of this year, the World Health Organisation advised against the consumption of sweeteners for the purpose of controlling body weight or reducing the risk of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The recommendation is based on the results of a systematic review of the available evidence, which suggests that the use of sweeteners does not confer any long-term benefits.
