This paper will center on the role of diplomacy in the promotion of goods and the creation of ties with different purchasers. Analyzing the consular reports to the central government will allow to typify the different strategies developed to extend trade relations. To do it so, the focus will be on the Memories of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, presented to the national Congress, and the yet unpublished Serie Diplomática y Consular of the Foreign Affairs Ministry Archive. Las exportaciones argentinas crecieron entre las décadas finales del siglo XIX y los umbrales de la Primera Guerra Mundial. La oferta variada de materias primas y alimentos y la diversificación de los destinos fueron los rasgos de la Gran Expansión. En este artículo estudiamos el rol de la diplomacia en la promoción de los productos y los vínculos con los distintos compradores. Analizamos el envío de informes al gobierno central y tipificamos las distintas estrategias desarrolladas para ampliar las relaciones comerciales. Para hacerlo, nos basamos en las Memorias que el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores y Culto presentaba anualmente ante el Congreso Nacional y la inédita Serie Diplomática y Consular del Archivo del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores y Culto argentino.
