Sumario:The herby study proposes some remarks about the circumstantial tensions in the genres or topics of the painting between the history and the landscape on the basis of two articles published by Emilio Caraffa in 1922 and 1923, in the Los Principios newspaper. In relation to this, I suggest analyzing some issues related to the scene of visual arts, the role of print media in Córdoba and its articulation with the western art panorama. The written reference documents, that may be categorized into the parameters of a “vernacular art critic”, both present substantial evaluation about core aspects in the global debates in relation to the pictorial representation. These debates gained singular relevance in the Cordobese scenario in a moment in which the art local institutions and agents started to consolidate.
