In relation to this, I suggest analyzing some issues related to the scene of visual arts, the role of print media in Córdoba and its articulation with the western art panorama. The written reference documents, that may be categorized into the parameters of a “vernacular art critic”, both present substantial evaluation about core aspects in the global debates in relation to the pictorial representation. These debates gained singular relevance in the Cordobese scenario in a moment in which the art local institutions and agents started to consolidate. A partir de dos artículos publicados por Emilio Caraffa en 1922 y en 1923 en el diario Los Principios, el presente trabajo propone algunas reflexiones sobre las circunstanciales tensiones en los géneros o temas de la pintura, entre la historia y el paisaje. En relación con ello, planteo analizar cuestiones vinculadas con la escena de las artes visuales, el rol de los medios de prensa en Córdoba y su articulación con el panorama del arte occidental. Los escritos de referencia, que podrían encuadrarse dentro de los parámetros de una “crítica de arte vernácula”, presentan ambos sustanciosas apreciaciones sobre aspectos medulares dentro de los debates globales en relación con la representación pictórica. Esas discusiones adquieren una relevancia singular en el escenario cordobés, en un momento en el que comienzan a consolidarse las instituciones y los agentes del arte locales.
