We approach the proposal from Environmental Education and Heritage Education, through a symbolic-identityperspective of environmental heritage as a reference approach to science teaching. We present “Quirquincho y Carancho”, a children series of cartoon short films, its web pagewith complementary information and activities, and the first chapter of the series set in high altitude pastures and woodlands, corresponding to the Chaco Serrano Woodland inthe Chaco Phytogeographical Province. These resources were validated in workshops in rural multi-grade schools of mountain. Nuestro desafío es brindar información sobre la biodiversidad y los ecosistemas nativos argentinos y favorecer actitudes de valoración del medio ambiente y de la identidadregional, con la participación de los niños como multiplicadores de saberes. Abordamos nuestra propuesta desde la Educación Ambiental y la Educación Patrimonial, a través deuna perspectiva simbólica-identitaria del patrimonio ambiental como enfoque referente para la enseñanza de las ciencias. Se presenta la serie de cortos animados infantiles“Quirquincho y Carancho”, su página web con información y actividades complementarias, y el primer capítulo de la serie ambientado en los bosquecillos y pastizales de altura,correspondientes al Distrito Chaqueño Serrano de la Provincia Fitogeográfica Chaqueña. Estos recursos fueron validados en talleres en escuelas rurales plurigrado de montaña.
