Sumario:The paper presents reflections based on experiences of professional intervention of social workers with transvestite-trans populations. The proposal intends to contribute to deepen the knowledge of the disciplinary field of Social Work about the implications and challenges of intervention in the face of these realities. The first section offers information about transvestite-trans lives based on reports from related organizations, also providing testimonies from their own research and incorporating the notions of transvesticide and transfemicide into the analysis. Secondly, it reflects on the professional commitment in the face of social inequalities revealed in the analyzed populations, recovering contributions and current debates specific to Social Work and also incorporating some testimonies. In the third section, the issue of social assistance and professional interventions with transvestite-trans populations is addressed, incorporating for the analysis the perspective of assistance as a right and the effects of subjectivation and social integration it entails. In closing, two central principles are reinforced to think about the challenges of professional intervention with transvestite-trans populations, within the framework of a rights-based approach.
