The identifi-cation of these conditions was carried out by conducting an interview with Physics teachers from Basic Education Schools of the State Public School Network in a Brazilian municipality in the State of São Paulo. As a result of reading and interpreting the information collected, we developed categories of analysis related to the objectives for the use of experiments and the justifica-tions for not using them or for the low frequency use of experiments in Physics classes. Through the analyzes carried out, we can point out the following conditions for the use of experiments: (1) the motivating character of the experiment; (2) availability of time linked to the requirement to comply with guidelines established by a higher authority; (3) infrastructure in schools for the development of experiments, with good physical conditions and use; (4) characteristics of student groups; (5) training of teach-ers to use experiments. Neste trabalho, apresentamos e discutimos os condicionantes para a utilização de experimentações por professores de Física do Ensino Médio. A identificação desses condicionantes foi realizada mediante a realização de entrevista com professores de Física de Escolas de Educação Básica da Rede Escolar Pública Estadual de um município brasileiro do Estado de São Paulo. Como decor-rência da leitura e da interpretação das informações coletadas, elaboramos categorias de análise relacionadas com os objetivos para a utilização de experimentações e com as justificativas para a não utilização ou para a utilização com baixa frequência de experimentações nas aulas de Física. Pelas análises realizadas, podemos apontar os seguintes condicionantes para a utilização de experimentações: (1) caráter motivador do experimento; (2) disponibilidade de tempo atrelada à exigência de cumprimento de diretrizes estabelecidas por instância superior; (3) infraestrutura nas escolas para o desenvolvimento de experimentações, com boas condições físicas e de uso; (4) características das turmas de alunos; (5) capacitação dos docentes para a utilização de experimentações.
