The conceptual learning outputs on a course designed upon the active learning principles and teaching strategies have been evaluated through the application of research-based multiple-choice tests. Results suggest that a satisfac-tory degree of conceptual learning can be obtained in almost all evaluated physics subjects, comparable with learnings obtained in more extended courses also based upon active learning pedagogies, and higher than learnings obtained in similar courses that followed teacher-centered pedagogies. Some learning failures have been identified and suggestions for their treatment are included. Este trabajo considera del problema del aprendizaje conceptual que puede lograrse en un curso de física general, entendido como aquel que incluye prácticamente todos los temas de la física clásica. A tal efecto se evalúa, mediante test de respuestas de opción múltiple basados en la investigación educativa, el aprendizaje conceptual logrado por alumnos de los profesorados en matemática y en biología que siguieron un curso de física basado en la utilización de reconocidas estrategias de enseñanza para el aprendizaje activo de la física. Los resultados obtenidos sugieren que se puede lograr un buen nivel de aprendizaje conceptual en prácticamente todos los temas evaluados, comparable incluso a los logrados en cursos más extendidos de carreras de inge-niería y de ciencias que han utilizado similares estrategias de aprendizaje activo. Los datos sugieren incluso que estos aprendiza-jes son superiores a los que se obtienen en cursos similares que siguieron una pedagogía tradicional, centrada en el profesor. Se identifican algunas falencias de aprendizaje, indicándose algunas posibilidades didácticas para su superación.
