Physics didactics faces the challenge of meeting the demands of the sustainable development goals due to the negative attitudes andemotions that many students experience in the learning process. Therefore, the study of a semiotic alternative is shown in anargumentative context that offers the possibility of analyzing the changes in the levels of understanding about mechanical work inaverage students (15 to 16 years old). According to the results, the proposed alternative complies with Duval's point of view becauseit uses semiotic registers to analyze the effects of learning processes and not as causes of lack of understanding. La didáctica de la física enfrenta el reto de cumplir con las exigencias de los objetivos del desarrollo sostenible a causa de las actitudesy emociones negativas que muchos estudiantes experimentan en los procesos de aprendizaje. Por lo tanto, se muestra el estudio deuna alternativa semiótica en contexto argumentativo que brinda la posibilidad de analizar los cambios en los niveles de comprensiónsobre trabajo mecánico en estudiantes de la escuela media. Según los resultados, la alternativa que se propone cumple con la miradade Duval porque utiliza los registros semióticos para analizar los efectos de los procesos de aprendizaje y no como causas de la falta decomprensión.
