Beyond the mask of motherhood lurks a desire that cannot be overlooked, the unknown desire of an Other that causes anxiety in the subject who is confronted with it. Clowns —albeit perfectly friendly ones— thus always carry about them a feeling of the uncanny that Freud described in his work. La naturaleza irresistible y la eficacia de los payasos y sus caras muy maquilladas pueden remontarse —entre otras— a las primeras experiencias de la infancia. Se trata de experiencias que han dejado recuerdos de satisfacción y risas teñidas con el conocimiento de que algo más está pasando bajo las sonrisas, el cuidado y el amor. Más allá de la máscara de la maternidad, se esconde un deseo que no puede pasarse por alto, el deseo desconocido de un Otro que causa angustia en el sujeto que se enfrenta con él. Los payasos —aunque sean perfectamente amistosos— llevan siempre sobre ellos un sentimiento de lo ominoso que Freud describió en su trabajo. Facultad de Psicología.
