El artículo hace una breve revisión de la manera en que el concepto de trauma proveniente del psicoanálisis ha sido retomado por las ciencias sociales bajo el término de trauma social o cultural, así como por los estudios de cine, con el fin de utilizarlo para analizar la manera en que dos eventos traumáticos de la historia mexicana contemporánea, a saber, la matanza de estudiantes en la Plaza de las Tres Culturas de la Ciudad de México el 2 de octubre de 1968 y la desaparición forzada, la noche del 26 de septiembre de 2014, de 43 estudiantes de la Escuela Normal Rural “Raúl Isidro Burgos”, de Ayotzinapa, son reelaborados en la película Los parecidos de Isaac Ezban, en el contexto de la violencia generada por el crimen organizado en la sociedad mexicana contemporánea.
