Results show a similar structure to validations done in Spanish language, except for the division made to one of the factors. In the same manner, a short version of the instrument is provided, which was obtained through deleting items that were gathered separately from the theoretical model proposal, as well as through those with low factorial value that increased validity of the scale at the moment of being deleted. Este estudio tiene como finalidad analizar las propiedades psicométricas del inventario de Inteligencia Socioemocional en su versión para jóvenes (EQ-i-YV). Se aplicó el instrumento a una muestra de 839 adolescentes mexicanos con un rango de edad entre 12 y 16 años. Los resultados muestran una estructura similar a las validaciones hechas en lengua castellana, a excepción de la división de uno de los factores, así mismo se plantea una versión corta del instrumento, obtenida a través de la eliminación de los ítems agruparon independiente a la propuesta del modelo teórico y de aquellos con bajos pesos factoriales que al ser eliminados aumentaban la validez de la escala.
