The article analyzes the changes that took place in Québec in the field of the fictionalization of History at the turn of the 20th/21st centuries. This phenomenon was evident in the canonical novel (Jacques Godbout, Jacques Folch-Ribas), the best-seller (Arlette Cousture, Louis Caron), the theatre (Roland Lepage, Jean Provencher) and the documentary (Jacques Godbout); it was also manifest in urban planning (Place Royale) and gave origin to the historical murals that celebrated the change of Millennium. In the 21st Century, the historical contents and the cognitive vocation have changed their emphasis to suit the epistemological and ideological developments referred to by Boaventura de Sousa Santos as a counter-hegemonic globalization, which was expressed in strongly transnational literatures and visual arts. From this perspective, the article focuses on the novelBeatrice & Virgil (2010) by Yann Martel, the play Incendies by Wajdi Mouawad and the work of the Québécois finalists of the Prix Artistique Sobey 2010 ( Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal), all instances that challenge the geopolitical, cultural and even linguistic criteria to define literary/artistic identities |

Parte de la hipótesis de que las tres últimas décadas del siglo XX fueron testigos en Quebec de una vocación cognitiva que se desarrolló en estrecha conexión con el proceso de construcción identitaria y que privilegió la vuelta al pasado histórico. Este fenómeno se observó tanto en la novela canónica (Jacques Godbout, Jacques Folch-Ribas) como en el best-seller (Arlette Cousture, Louis Caron), el teatro (Roland Lepage, Jean Provencher) y el documental (Jacques Godbout); abarcó el urbanismo (la Place Royale) y dio origen a los murales históricos que festejaron el cambio de milenio. Entrado el siglo XXI, los contenidos históricos y la vocación cognitiva han experimentado un cambio de énfasis, afín a desarrollos epistemológicos e ideológicos designados por Boaventura de Sousa Santos como globalización contra-hegemónica, que se expresa en una literatura y un arte plástico fuertementetransnacional. Desde esta perspectiva se considera la recepción de Beatrice & Virgil de Yann Martel (2010), la obra de teatro Incendies de Wajdi Mouawad y las obras de artistas plásticos quebequenses presentadas al Prix Artistique Sobey 2010 (Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal), casos estos que desafían los criterios geopolíticos, culturales y hasta lingüísticos (en el caso de la literatura) para definir las identidades literarias/artísticas.
