In our present context, images, be them static or in movement, exhibit a vital presence in meaning making processes, however, teaching-learning processes at university level continue to privilege the written word. In our research team on visual literacy (161/2016) we meant to explore the word image tension in a project that focused on the relation between literature and performance in an experience in which the Shakespearian text, translations and rewritings converge. The project Literature and performance: Approaching the Shakespearian text (carried out from May to November 2016, CD 138/2016) aimed at an interrogation and problematization of notions of representation beyond territorial, linguistic, disciplinary and cultural borders. Designed as a workshop, the project meant an out of the classroom experience that invited current students, former students, and teachers to work with bodies in action. The objective of this paper is to share the workshop experience that ended in a mise en scene proposal on December 13th, 2016, in the independent theatre El Mascaviento in Rio Cuarto, Córdoba. Leer críticamente, en tanto práctica sociocultural, activa una compleja red de relaciones. Leer supone hacer lugar a la complejidad de la imagen, parte integral de nuestra concepción de mundo. Si bien en nuestro contexto actual la imagen en sus múltiples formas, estática o en movimiento, tiene una presencia vital e indiscutible en la construcción de sentidos y miradas del mundo, todavía los procesos de enseñanza-aprendizaje en el nivel superior tienden a priorizan la palabra escrita. Desde el equipo de investigación “Leer en imágenes: alfabetización visual y literacidad crítica en lengua extranjera en el ingreso al nivel superior” (GRF, Resolución 161/2016) se propuso poner en tensión la imagen y la palabra en un proyecto de extensión que tomó como eje la relación literatura y representación teatral en una experiencia que integra el texto original, traducciones y reescrituras. El trayecto de formación Literatura y Representación Teatral: una aproximación al universo shakesperiano (aprobado por resolución CD 138/2016 y ejecutado de mayo a noviembre de 2016) pretendió interrogar y problematizar nociones de representación cruzando fronteras territoriales, lingüísticas, disciplinares, culturales, de soportes y medios. Diseñado en modalidad taller, el proyecto implicó salir de la discusión en las aulas del campus para trabajar con la imagen desde lo corporal en un grupo de trabajo integrado por docentes, graduados y estudiantes. El objetivo del presente trabajo es compartir la experiencia del taller que culminó el 13 de diciembre de 2016 con una puesta en escena en la sala de teatro independiente El Mascaviento en la ciudad de Río Cuarto.
