En este trabajo, revisamos diversos aspectos relativos al papel que desempeñaron los indígenas (estructura, acciones, violencia) en el tumulto ocurrido en la Ciudad de México en 1692, según la obra Alboroto y motín, escrita por el novohispano Carlos de Sigüenza y Góngora; asimismo, nos centramos en la postura verídica o simulada que observó Sigüenza y Góngora al momento de narrar su participación en la revuelta.
