The 1614 Catalogue (and triennial catalogues in general) is not simply a formal record, but responds to the need for the Society of Jesus, present in a challenging missionary context, to be a living and healthy 'body' in the spiritual, psychic and somatic aspects, and as such capable of responding to the needs of the environment. To this end, the ideal of balancing the social and spiritual body of the Society must take into account the complexion, that is, the state of the physical bodies, a vision present in the Ignatians from the very beginning.

El artículo analiza el Catálogo Trianual de la recién constituida Provincia Jesuítica del Paraguay escrito por Diego de Torres Bollo en 1614, centrándose en la descripción de los temperamentos y cualidades de los miembros de la Orden pertenecientes a dicha provincia. Estos datos se comparan con otras fuentes referidas a biografías y otros aspectos históricos que dilucidan el significado y la función de la valoración realizada por el provincial. El Catálogo de 1614 (y los catálogos trienales en general) no es un mero registro formal, sino que responde a la necesidad de que la Compañía de Jesús, presente en un contexto misionero desafiante, sea un "cuerpo" vivo y sano en los aspectos, espiritual, psíquico y somático, y como tal, capaz de responder a las necesidades del entorno. Para ello, el ideal de equilibrar el cuerpo social y espiritual de la Compañía debe tener en cuenta la complexión, es decir, el estado de los cuerpos físicos, una visión presente en los ignacianos desde el principio. O artigo analisa o Catálogo Trianual da recém constituída Província jesuítica do Paraguay redigido por Diego de Torres Bollo em 1614, focando a descrição de temperamentos e qualidades anímicas dos membros da Ordem pertencentes à essa província. Esses dados são comparados com outras fontes referentes a biografias e outros aspectos históricos que elucidam o significado e a função da avaliação realizada pelo provincial. O Catálogo de 1614 (e de modo geral os catálogos trienais) não é simples registro formal, mas responde à exigência de que a Companhia de Jesus presente num contexto missionário desafiador, seja um ‘corpo’ vivo e saudável nos aspectos espiritual, psíquico e somático, e como tal capaz de responder às necessidades do ambiente. Para isso, o ideal do equilíbrio do corpo social e espiritual da Companhia deve levar em conta a complexão, ou seja, o estado dos corpos físicos, visão presente nos inacianos, desde as origens.
