En los libros elementales de Cálculo Infinitesimal se demuestra en forma algo deficiente el teorema de Taylor, y se da como fórmula del resto casi únicamente la de Lagrange. El estudio que sigue tiene por objeto llegar a la fórmula de Taylor con una forma tal para el resto, que nos permita obtener a voluntad diversos restos, entre ellos los de Lagrange y de Cauchy.
