The population living in irregular settlements of popular character has disadvantages and an urban environment lacking public services and equipment that collaborate in a healthy habitability. However, this does not occur homogeneously in the population; it is women who have the greatest disadvantages because they have historically been responsible for the care and reproduction of households. Therefore, this article discusses and analyzes urban informality, making women visible in the case study of an irregular settlement in the northern periphery of the municipality of Puebla, where specifications are detected in the daily activities, as well as in their organization to change their urban environment. La urbanización en las ciudades mexicanas se ha desarrollado de manera desorganizada a través del sector inmobiliario y con carencias graves en políticas públicas, lo cual trae consigo la expansión hacia las periferias de las ciudades en espacios donde la población puede asentarse a un precio de suelo muy por debajo del que se encuentra en la ciudad central. La población que habita en asentamientos irregulares de carácter popular cuenta con desventajas y un ambiente urbano carente de servicios públicos y equipamiento para lograr una habitabilidad digna. Sin embargo, esto no se da de manera homogénea en la población, son las mujeres quienes cuentan con mayores desventajas por ser quienes históricamente se han encargado del cuidado y la reproducción de los hogares. Por lo tanto, en el presente artículo se discute y analiza la informalidad urbana con la intención de visibilizar las implicaciones para las mujeres que habitan en un asentamiento irregular en la periferia norte del municipio de Puebla, en donde se detectan especificaciones en la cotidianidad de las actividades, así como en su organización para cambiar su entorno urbano.
