Sumario:Urbanization in Mexican cities has developed in a disorganized manner through the real estate sector and with a serious lack of public policies, which has resulted in the expansion towards the outskirts of the cities in areas where the population can settle at a much lower price than in the central city. The population living in irregular settlements of popular character has disadvantages and an urban environment lacking public services and equipment that collaborate in a healthy habitability. However, this does not occur homogeneously in the population; it is women who have the greatest disadvantages because they have historically been responsible for the care and reproduction of households. Therefore, this article discusses and analyzes urban informality, making women visible in the case study of an irregular settlement in the northern periphery of the municipality of Puebla, where specifications are detected in the daily activities, as well as in their organization to change their urban environment.
