Then, the main problems detected in the canton are included in order to structure and define the thematic axes of the manual.  Several variables to be developed in detail in the manual were defined, such as meeting spaces, lighting, perception of safety, among others.  This manual aims to provide a tool to the actors involved in the development, design, and management of urban areas in this canton.  It can be further used throughout the country, in an effort to mitigate inequalities and create a more caring, equitable, inclusive, accessible and dynamic city. Los desafíos a los que se enfrentan los gobiernos locales para asegurar espacios accesibles para todas las personas marcaron una pauta para observar la necesidad de un manual de diseño urbano con perspectiva de género para el cantón de Curridabat, Costa Rica. Para su abordaje se realiza una revisión bibliográfica descriptiva o panorámica y se incluyeron las principales problemáticas detectadas en el cantón, con la finalidad de estructurar y definir el tema-problema a través de los ejes temáticos del manual. Se definieron variables para desarrollar a detalle en el manual, tales como, espacios de encuentro, iluminación, percepción de seguridad, entre otras. Con este trabajo se pretende dotar de una herramienta a los actores involucrados en la gestación, diseño y administración de lo urbano en este cantón, y posteriormente en todo el país, procurando mitigar desigualdades y gestar una ciudad más cuidadora, equitativa, inclusiva, accesible y dinámica. Entidad subnacional de segundo nivel que presenta la división política de Costa Rica. Los cantones son la unidad administrativa más importante del país en el ámbito político, pues son los únicos que poseen gobiernos locales, al corresponder al concepto de municipio por mandato constitucional. Una revisión panorámica pretende identificar los conceptos clave que sustentan un área de investigación, las principales fuentes y tipos de evidencias disponibles sobre todo cuando un área es compleja o no ha sido revisada exhaustivamente antes.
