description In a context of increasing platformization of the city where mobile phones configure a kind of prosthesis-body-territory, we seek to recover traces of the cultural history of public telephones and recompose elements of the process of social resignification of these artifacts. From this investigation, we will reflect on the emotional links that a society establishes with its spaces and its technologies as identity keys. We employ a qualitative methodological strategy of critical-interpretive analysis of a heterogeneous corpus composed of newspaper and documentary material, photographic archive, current photographic record and sustained observation in different locations where telephones were identified. These tasks were carried out mainly during 2022-2023. Finally, in May 2024 we implemented a qualitative survey to survey uses, meanings and emotions around these artifacts. In the case of the public telephones in the city of Rosario we notice a social imaginary composed of three meanings: public telephones as a place, as a ruin and as heritage.

En un contexto de creciente plataformización de la ciudad donde los teléfonos móviles configuran una especie de prótesis-cuerpo-territorio, buscamos recuperar rastros de la historia cultural de los teléfonos públicos y recomponer elementos del proceso de resignificación social de estos artefactos. A partir de esa indagación, reflexionaremos sobre los vínculos afectivos que una sociedad establece con sus espacios y sus tecnologías como claves identitarias. Empleamos una estrategia metodológica cualitativa de análisis crítico-interpretativo de un corpus heterogéneo compuesto por material hemerográfico y documental, archivo fotográfico, registro fotográfico actual y observación sostenida en distintos emplazamientos donde fueron identificados teléfonos. Estas tareas fueron realizadas principalmente durante 2022-2023. Por último, en mayo de 2024 implementamos una encuesta cualitativa para relevar usos, sentidos y emociones en torno a estos artefactos. En el caso de los teléfonos públicos de la ciudad de Rosario advertimos un imaginario social compuesto por tres significaciones: teléfonos públicos como lugar, como ruina y como patrimonio. Num contexto de crescente plataformização da cidade onde os telemóveis configuram uma espécie de prótese-corpo-território, procuramos recuperar vestígios da história cultural dos telefones públicos e tentaremos recompor elementos do processo de ressignificação social destes artefactos . A partir desta investigação refletiremos sobre os vínculos emocionais que uma sociedade estabelece com seus espaços e suas tecnologias como chaves de identidade.
