It reports on the challenges of using notional systems in a real world. The project team worked with actors from different levels of an SME to discuss possible proposals and facilitate action, through organizational management processes. Using the Mingers multi-methodology map, an initial range of soft/hard OR methodologies and management system (MS) tools were selected. The corroboration of the adequacy of the initial design and the selection of the implemented methods was achieved by reflecting on the questions that arise from the relationships between the three notional systems. The set of results/recommendations of the intervention produced was adopted by the SME, suggesting that the proposed improved framework aids the design and feasibility/sustainability of a multi-method intervention. This article contributes to the debate on method mix in OR practice by proposing a novel framework and reporting the results of a real-world application. Basado en el marco de Mingers para el mapeo de metodologías/ métodos/ técnicas de Investigación Operativa (IO) y sus tres sistemas nocionales, este artículo presenta un marco sistémico mejorado para el diseño y la implementación de una intervención en una pequeña y mediana empresa (pyme) textil en el Noroeste de Argentina. Se informa sobre los desafíos planteados al utilizar los sistemas nocionales en un mundo real. El equipo del proyecto trabajó con actores de diferentes niveles de una pyme para discutir posibles propuestas y facilitar la acción, a través de procesos de gestión organizacional. Utilizando el mapa de multimetodologías de Mingers, se seleccionó una gama inicial de metodologías de IO soft / hard y herramientas de ciencias de la gestión (CG). La corroboración de la adecuación del diseño inicial y la selección de los métodos implementados se logró al reflexionar sobre las preguntas que surgen de las relaciones entre los tres sistemas nocionales. El conjunto de resultados / recomendaciones de la intervención producida fue adoptado por la pyme, lo que sugiere que el marco mejorado propuesto ayuda al diseño y la viabilidad / sostenibilidad de una intervención multimetodológica.
