| Sumario: | In recent decades, the role of community health agents has gained great relevance within health systems. Silent and not very visible, the work of community agents contributes to closing gaps between institutions and the community. Despite the difficulties of field work, the work of community agents in health promotion contributes to building a society with greater equity and to enhancing the health of individuals. Given the complexity of the work of the community agent, especially in some situations or with some populations, a particular profile with leadership, sensitivity, vocation, and respect is required. This article reviews some key concepts around the work of community agents, in addition to symbolizing their role as a hyper-connected node for health promotion within the complex health system. |
