To these ends, evidence is provided regarding the logical ability attained by advanced university students of mathematics and physics (Master programmes in pure science and in teaching) to solve and justify activities where valid and fallacious conditional modes of inference appear. The theoretical perspective that supports this piece of research is of epistemological and cognitive nature; the methodological approach is qualitative. Analysis of the results shows students’ limited logical ability in the resolution and justification of tasks involving two well-known fallacies, in contrast to their good performance in two valid inferential modes.
