Do you assimilate them as a natural matter due to ignorance of the dynamics of the stream, the rains and the territory it occupies? Do you perceive the situation but choose to expose yourself to danger to access urban land? These questions are the ones that this article tries to address, which discusses the concept of risk perception based on analyzing the behavior of a population that -by action or omission- has responded to the flood of April 2, 2013 in the city of The Silver. These are the residents who live in an informal settlement in Ringuelet who, due to hydraulic works carried out in Arroyo del Gato, had to be relocated downstream from their previous location. The study is carried out through semi-structured interviews that explore multiple perspectives: that of state, academic and community actors, inquiring into their "social representations" of the flood. From there, the initial questions are answered, which will allow them to be replicated in other informal settlements at risk of flooding, to know the status of the situation and collaborate in risk management decision-making.
