Thus, the study constitutes a preliminary approach to a museum project focused on a notorious privateer from Tenerife, Amaro Pargo. It also highlights the need for museums to maintain a line of work dedicated to the links between the institution and the audience, in the same manner as it is established regarding the management of the collections and proper heritage. Este trabajo incluye una reflexión sobre el valor que tiene la actividad de investigación en el marco de la planificación museística a partir de un estudio de caso centrado en diez casas museo dedicadas a personajes destacados de la historia de Canarias. Dicho estudio, a su vez, supone la antesala de un proyecto de musealización sobre un corsario tinerfeño de la Edad Moderna, Amaro Pargo, al tiempo que permite poner de relieve la necesidad de concebir la atención que el museo presta al público como una actividad propiamente de investigación, en pie de igualdad con la que concierne a las colecciones y legados que custodia la institución.  Este trabalho inclui uma reflexão sobre o valor da atividade de pesquisa na estrutura do planejamento de museus com base em um estudo de caso centrado em dez museus-casa dedicados a figuras proeminentes da história das Ilhas Canárias. Esse estudo, por sua vez, é o prelúdio de um projeto de museu sobre um corsário de Tenerife da Idade Moderna, Amaro Pargo, ao mesmo tempo em que destaca a necessidade de conceber a atenção do museu ao público como uma atividade de pesquisa, em pé de igualdade com aquela que diz respeito às coleções e aos legados mantidos pela instituição.
