Through an ethnographic study of the “training for mothers” classes, we reconstruct the perspectives of female employees, teachers, and assistants on the relationship between gender and sports. Our analysis considers physical activity as an educational practice, emphasizing the ways knowledge is transmitted, the focus on participants’ health care, and the sociability among women that emerges from their involvement. We argue that physical activities in the context of a Municipal Educational Park not only shape ways of embodying gender and bodies but also reinforce citizen participation and the role of women-mothers. Finally, we reflect on the role of sports and the Park in local community dynamics, highlighting the value of ethnographic approaches to studying state practices.

El objetivo principal de la investigación es analizar, desde una perspectiva socioantropológica, las relaciones de género que se desplegaban en actividades deportivas desarrolladas en un Parque Educativo Municipal de la ciudad de Córdoba, Argentina; atendiendo a los sentidos, relaciones y tensiones en la transmisión de saberes durante su realización. A partir de un abordaje etnográfico de las clases de “entrenamiento para madres”, buscamos reconstruir las perspectivas de funcionarias, profesoras/os y asistentes sobre la relación entre género y deporte. El conjunto de sentidos y prácticas analizadas giran en torno a entender la actividad física como una práctica educativa, teniendo en cuenta modos de transmisión de conocimiento, con insistencia en el cuidado de la salud de las asistentes y la sociabilidad entre mujeres surgida de su participación. Todo lo cual nos permite sostener que las actividades físicas en el marco de un Parque Educativo municipal enseñan y señalan modos de encarnar el género, los cuerpos y la participación ciudadana asociados a apuntalar el rol de mujeres-madres de las asistentes. Finalmente reflexionamos por el lugar del deporte y del Parque en el entramado barrial, resaltando la potencia de los abordajes etnográficos de prácticas estatales. O estudo examina, a partir de uma perspectiva socioantropológica, as relações de gênero que se desenvolvem nas atividades esportivas em um Parque Educacional Municipal na cidade de Córdoba, Argentina, concentrando-se nos significados, nas relações e nas tensões na transmissão do conhecimento. Por meio de um estudo etnográfico das aulas de “treinamento para mães”, reconstruímos as perspectivas de funcionárias, professoras e assistentes sobre a relação entre gênero e esportes. Nossa análise considera a atividade física como uma prática educacional, enfatizando as formas como o conhecimento é transmitido, o foco nos cuidados com a saúde dos participantes e a sociabilidade entre as mulheres que emerge de seu envolvimento. Argumentamos que as atividades físicas no contexto de um Parque Educacional Municipal não apenas moldam as formas de incorporação do gênero e dos corpos, mas também reforçam a participação cidadã e o papel das mulheres-mães. Por fim, refletimos sobre o papel dos esportes e do parque na dinâmica da comunidade local, destacando o valor das abordagens etnográficas para o estudo das práticas estatais.
