Universities take on increasingly broad social responsibilities, involving multiple functions, according to their own historical dynamics. Investigating the professional and academic destiny, following the work trajectory of trained professionals and researchers is becoming an increasingly frequent way of highlighting the importance of Universities regarding the training of workers in general. The following article investigates how Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay today deal with the issue of monitoring the graduates of their Universities, either through the National Evaluation System conducted by the Ministry of Education, as in Brazil; either from the National Commission of University Evaluation and Accreditation, also linked to the Ministry of Education, as in Argentina; from the National Agency for Evaluation and Accreditation of Higher Education in Paraguay and the Ad Hoc Accreditation Commission of Uruguay. The three best Universities in each country were selected according to the QS University Ranking Latin America. What is being discussed in the area today is the relationship between professional and continuing training and monitoring the beginning of working life. The approach to work and the difficulties of professional insertion raise different questions regarding the importance of systematic study on graduates; as well as it can be another channel for self-assessment of university institutions, in their relationship with the employability issues of their graduates; as well as on the issues of attraction of national and international students and, mainly, how much it can help Universities to rethink their social performance. |

Las Universidades asumen responsabilidades sociales cada vez más amplias, con múltiples funciones, de acuerdo con sus propias dinámicas históricas. Investigar el destino profesional y académico, siguiendo la trayectoria laboral de profesionales e investigadores formados, se está convirtiendo en una forma cada vez más frecuente de resaltar la importancia de las Universidades en la formación de los trabajadores en general. El siguiente artículo investiga cómo Argentina, Brasil, Paraguay y Uruguay abordan hoy el tema del seguimiento de los egresados de sus Universidades, ya sea mediante el Sistema Nacional de Evaluación que realiza el Ministerio de Educación, como en Brasil; de la Comisión Nacional de Evaluación y Acreditación Universitaria, también vinculada al Ministerio de la Educación, como en Argentina; la Agencia Nacional de Evaluación y Acreditación de la Educación Superior, como en Paraguay y la Comisión Ad Hoc de Acreditación de Uruguay. Las tres mejores Universidades de cada país fueron seleccionadas según el QS University Ranking Latin America. Lo que se está discutiendo hoy en el área es la relación entre la formación profesional y continua y el seguimiento del inicio de la vida laboral. El enfoque del trabajo y las dificultades de inserción profesional plantean diferentes preguntas sobre la importancia del estudio sistemático sobre los egresados; así como puede ser un canal más para la autoevaluación de las instituciones universitarias, en su relación con las cuestiones de empleabilidad de sus egresados; así como en los temas de atracción de estudiantes nacionales e internacionales y, principalmente, en cuánto puede ayudar a las Universidades a repensar su desempeño social. As Universidades assumem responsabilidades sociais cada vez mais abrangentes, envolvendo múltiplas funções, de acordo com suas dinâmicas históricas próprias. Investigar o destino profissional e acadêmico, acompanhar a trajetória laboral dos profissionais e pesquisadores formados torna-se uma forma cada vez mais frequente de evidenciar a importância das Universidades quanto à formação dos trabalhadores em geral. O artigo a seguir investiga como a Argentina, o Brasil, o Paraguai e o Uruguai tratam hoje da questão do acompanhamento dos diplomados de suas Universidades, seja a partir de Sistema Nacional de Avaliação conduzido pelo Ministério da Educação, como no Brasil; seja a partir da Comissão Nacional de Avaliação e Acreditação Universitária, igualmente ligada ao Ministério da Educação, como na Argentina; seja a partir da Agência Nacional de Avaliação e Acreditação da Educação Superior, como no Paraguai e a Comissão Ad Hoc de Acreditação do Uruguai. Foram selecionadas as três melhores Universidades de cada país segundo o QS University Ranking Latin America. O que se discute na área hoje é a relação entre a formação profissional e continuada e o acompanhamento do início da vida laboral. A aproximação com o trabalho e as dificuldades de inserção profissional levantam diferentes questões com relação à importância do estudo sistemático sobre egressos; assim como pode ser mais um canal para autoavaliação das instituições universitárias, em sua relação com as questões de empregabilidade de seus formandos; assim como sobre as questões de atração de alunos nacionais e internacionais e, principalmente, quanto pode ajudar as Universidades a repensarem sua atuação social.
