Located between the early 20th century renovation movements and those of the 1920’s, Méndez is a link between the latin american modernismo and the avant-garde.  El presente trabajo se propone estudiar la figura de Evar Méndez, director del periódico Martín Fierro (1924-1927) y de la editorial Proa, su formación intelectual y sus obras literarias. La investigación permite corregir ciertas inexactitudes transmitidas por la tradición historiográfica. Situado entre los movimientos de renovación de principios de siglo XX y de la década de 1920, Méndez constituye un enlace entre el modernismo y la vanguardia.
