In this article, we examine the contributions of performance-as-research methodologies to addressing issues related to rural youth experiences in Misiones Province, Argentina.
We analyze the methodological pathways of the project Carne oscura, qué hay en ti carried out with young students from the Tajy Poty Intercultural Bilingual Institute. The research device consisted of presenting an ethnographic theatre piece based on a six-year study; conducting research-creation workshops; re-staging the play with the participation of the young people; and presenting it to the school community. The article reflects on the research process, considering the micropolitics of transdisciplinary work; the degrees of collaboration and moments of interculturality; and the performative efficacies and emerging aesthetic qualities.
This project was carried out between 2022 and 2023 by a team of artists and social scientists from the University of Buenos Aires, with support from the Gestionar Futuro Program, the National Theater Institute, and CONICET. |

En este artículo indagamos sobre los aportes de las metodologías de performance-investigación en el abordaje de problemáticas ligadas a las experiencias juveniles rurales de la provincia de Misiones, Argentina. En el trabajo se analizan los caminos metodológicos del proyecto Carne oscura y triste. ¿Qué hay en ti? con jóvenes del Instituto Intercultural Bilingüe Tajy Poty. El dispositivo consistió en la presentación de una obra de teatro etnográfico basada en una investigación de 6 años, la realización de talleres de investigación-creación, el re-montaje de la obra con la participación de les jóvenes y su presentación a la comunidad educativa. El artículo reflexiona sobre el proceso de investigación, contemplando las micropolíticas de trabajo transdisciplinar; los grados de colaboración y momentos de interculturalidad; las eficacias performativas y cualidades estéticas emergentes. Este proyecto se realizó entre los años 2022 y 2023 con un equipo de artistas y cientistas sociales de la Universidad de Buenos Aires, y contó con el apoyo del Programa Gestionar Futuro, el Instituto Nacional del Teatro y CONICET. Neste artigo, exploramos as contribuições das metodologias de pesquisa-performance para estudar questões relacionadas às experiências de jovens rurais na província de Misiones, Argentina. Analisamos os percursos metodológicos do projeto Carne oscura y triste, ¿qué hay en ti? desenvolvido com jovens do Instituto Intercultural Bilíngue Tajy Poty. O projeto envolveu a apresentação de uma peça de teatro etnográfico baseada em seis anos de pesquisa, a realização de oficinas de pesquisa-criação, a montagem da peça com a participação dos jovens e sua apresentação na comunidade educativa.
