In the context of pedagogical practice in a Chilean technical-professional establishment, and through the analysis of the educational reality, it became evident that demotivation is an aspect that affects the development of reading in the area of Language and Literature. Recognizing that demotivation is presented as a negative disposition towards activities, which leads to poor results (Formento et al., 2023, p.3). This analysis is developed in conjunction with the creation of a multimodal reading diary (Picard, 1981), where a mixed research approach is incorporated with different instruments that offer a comparison from the beginning of the implementation to its end. In this way, we seek to obtain accurate data on the implications that carrying out a reflective-critical activity has on student disposition and attitudes. For this, the police story is used, favoring motivation and developing identity through the use of multimodality, which, as proposed by Manghi & Badillo in 2021, involves the use of images, drawings, videos, among other elements.
