This implies thinking about the history of modes of production in a different way and highlighting the elements of neo-colonial continuity. This approach may help to understand the traces of the common narrative of the independence leaders that insists on Africanness and African values as a form of cultural resistance and a foundation for the future they were helping to build. Una imagen instantánea de Ghana en 2022, como ejemplo de las repúblicas africanas actuales, nos muestra la singularidad de su recorrido, dificultades para la consolidación del Estado-nación y la soberanía conseguida hace décadas, además de algunos elementos complejos cuya comprensión puede ser modificada si cambiamos parcialmente la perspectiva, incorporamos la dimensión imperial e inscribimos el proceso de las independencias políticas formales en una mirada de larga duración. Eso implica pensar la historia de los modos de producción de otra manera y destacar los elementos de continuidad neocolonial. Este enfoque quizás ayude a entender los trazos de la narrativa común de los líderes independentistas que insiste en la africanidad y los valores propiamente africanos como forma de resistencia cultural y fundamento del futuro que estaban ayudando a construir.
