The article analyses the beginning of the social process of classification of the former clandestine detention center, Servicio de Informaciones (Information Service) as a site of memory in the city of Rosario, Argentina. First, we reconstruct the conditions that enable this process, which began in 1998, in line with events in other parts of the country, considering commemorative, political-governmental and judicial antecedents. Second, we address the political and nominal levels of classification, defined within the context of this process. As part of a PhD research developed from an ethnographic perspective, we consider that the former Information Service qualification exceeds the recovery as an event, since it involved a prior articulation of actors in a specific conjuncture. This articulation made possible the signification of the former clandestine detention center as a site of memory. |

El artículo analiza los inicios del proceso social de calificación como lugar de memoria del ex centro clandestino de detención Servicio de Informaciones, localizado en la ciudad argentina de Rosario. En primer lugar, reconstruimos las condiciones que posibilitaron dicho proceso, cuyo punto de partida se ubica en el año 1998 a tono con lo sucedido en otras partes del país, considerando antecedentes conmemorativos, político-gubernamentales y judiciales. En segundo lugar, atendemos a los niveles político y nominal de la calificación, que hemos delimitado en el marco del proceso analizado. Como parte de una investigación doctoral desarrollada desde una perspectiva etnográfica, sostenemos que la calificación del ex Servicio de Informaciones excede a la recuperación como acontecimiento, pues implicó la articulación previa de un entramado de actores/as en una coyuntura específica. Posibilitada por los señalados antecedentes, esta articulación fue habilitando progresivamente la significación del ex CCD como lugar de memoria. Este artigo analisa os primórdios do processo social de designação do antigo centro de detenção clandestino, Servicio de Informaciones, localizado na cidade argentina de Rosário, como um lugar de memória. Em primeiro lugar, reconstruímos as condições que possibilitaram este processo, iniciado em 1998, em consonância com acontecimentos noutros pontos do país, considerando precedentes comemorativos, político-governamentais e judiciais. Em segundo lugar, examinamos os níveis político e nominal desta designação, que definimos no âmbito do processo analisado. No âmbito de uma investigação de doutoramento desenvolvida numa perspetiva etnográfica, defendemos que a designação do antigo Servicio de Informaciones vai para além da sua recuperação enquanto evento, pois envolveu a articulação prévia de uma rede de atores num contexto específico. Facilitada pelos precedentes mencionados, esta articulação estabeleceu gradualmente a significância do antigo centro de detenção clandestino como um lugar de memória.
