Firstly, the text explores how Spanish power and its governing institutions were consolidated in the area. Secondly, it details the stages through which this process unfolded. From a regional perspective, we seek to understand the specificities that made possible the thirteen years of Spanish rule over Rio Grande (1763-1776). En este trabajo analizamos el proceso de incorporación de Río Grande de San Pedro (actualmente ciudad de Río Grande, Brasil) a la gobernación de Buenos Aires, tras la conquista de la villa portuguesa por la campaña del gobernador don Pedro de Cevallos (1763). El texto explora el modo con que tuvo lugar la consolidación del poder español y de sus instancias de gobierno sobre el área. En segundo lugar, se detallan las etapas en que dicho proceso se desarrolló. Con una perspectiva regional se busca comprender las especificidades que permitieron los trece años de gobierno español sobre el lugar (1763-1776). Neste trabalho, analisamos o processo de incorporação de Rio Grande de San Pedro (atualmente cidade de Rio Grande, Brasil) ao governo de Buenos Aires, após a conquista da vila portuguesa pela campanha do governador Dom Pedro de Cevallos (1763). O texto explora a forma como ocorreu a consolidação do poder espanhol e de suas instâncias governamentais sobre a área. Em segundo lugar, detalham-se as etapas em que esse processo se desenvolveu. Com uma perspectiva regional, busca-se compreender as especificidades que permitiram os treze anos de governo espanhol sobre o local (1763-1776).
