It analyzes an adaptation of the treatise De regimine politiae into Nahuatl, initially written by Denys the Carthusian. The article explores the significant modifications the work underwent to adapt it to the Indigenous context. It proposes that the “Mirrors for Princes” were used by Franciscan teachers to introduce European governance models, while allowing Indigenous people to reinterpret and adapt them to their social and political realities. El artículo muestra la influencia de la literatura especular europea en la educación de las élites indígenas en el Colegio de Santa Cruz de Tlatelolco en el siglo XVI, a partir del análisis de una adaptación al náhuatl del tratado De regimine politiae de Dionisio el Cartujano. Se exploran las modificaciones significativas que sufrió la obra para adecuarla al contexto indígena, y se propone que los “espejos de príncipes” se emplearon para introducir modelos europeos de gobernanza, al mismo tiempo que se permitió a los indígenas reinterpretar y adaptar dichos modelos a su realidad social y política. O artigo mostra a influência da literatura especular europeia na educação das elites indígenas no Colégio de Santa Cruz de Tlatelolco no século XVI, a partir da análise de uma adaptação para o náhuatl do tratado De regimine politiae, de Dionísio, o Cartuxo. Explora-se as modificações significativas que a obra sofreu para se adequar ao contexto indígena e propõe-se que os “espelhos dos príncipes” foram utilizados para introduzir modelos europeus de governança, ao mesmo tempo em que se permitiu aos indígenas reinterpretar e adaptar esses modelos à sua realidade social e política.
