Until then, anarchists attempts where perceived as a disturbing, fascinating but completely unrelated to local reality. That’s why, form a very first moment, Planas’ attempt generated numerous discourses that intended to explain what happened. Based on the collection and analysis of daily and illustrated press, criminology essays, penal cases, anarchists and socialists press, this article tries to find out what kind of knowledge and images about anarchism and anarchists spread around the city of Buenos Aires. The article tries to prove that, unlike what is commonly stated, those images and knowledge were not homogeneous. El propósito del artículo es reconstruir las representaciones y emociones que se desataron en la ciudad de Buenos Aires cuando, el 11 de agosto de 1905, el tipógrafo anarquista Salvador Planas intentó asesinar al presidente de la república Manuel Quintana. Hasta ese momento, en la ciudad, los atentados anarquistas eran tenidos como un fenómeno inquietante, fascinante y completamente extraño a la realidad local. Fue por eso que, desde un primer momento, frente al intento de Planas se desató una infinidad de discursos que buscaron darle sentido. A partir del relevamiento de la prensa diaria e ilustrada, del ensayo criminológico, de la causa judicial, de los impresos anarquistas y socialistas, el artículo indaga, a partir del caso Planas, qué saberes sobre el anarquismo y qué imágenes sobre los anarquistas circularon en la ciudad. Contrariamente a lo que se ha sostenido habitualmente, el trabajo intenta demostrar que dichos saberes e imágenes no fueron homogéneos.
