description The measurement of educational quality is a complex and multidimensional process that encompasses both students’ cognitive development and their personal and social growth at school. Therefore, this article analyzes the results of the measurement of educational quality in Chile for 2nd year of secondary school in 2018, composed of the student’s performance on standardized tests (SIMCE) and the evaluations that the actors of the school community give to the personal and social development lived in the school (SPDI). In general terms, the performance in SIMCE shows better achievements in the private sector than in the public one, although the gaps are reduced when the social and economic conditions of the students are controlled. From the perspective of SPDI, the indicator of Citizen participation and training has the highest assessments among students and parents, while Healthy living habits represent the opposite situation. Finally, between the two lines of educational quality measurement there would be high correspondence due to the SPDI providing analytical density and complementing the measurement of educational quality while constituting the basis of sustainability for learning.
